No Need to stop fishing for trout in Pennsylvania. There are still plenty of trout fishing opportunities open to fishing before opening day.
Year Round Trout Fishing Opportunities
You can still fish on some waters from March 1st until the opening day of trout season. The only restriction is that NO trout may be taken or in possession at this time, and you must have a valid trout stamp to fish. These streams and lakes are classified as: “Approved Trout Waters Open to Year-Round Fishing”, “Catch and Release Fly Fishing Only”, “Catch and Release”, “Catch and Release All Tackle”, “Wild Brook Trout Enhancement Program”, “Delayed Harvest Artificial Lures Only”, “All Tackle Trophy Trout” and “Trophy Trout Projects”. Most of these special regulation waters exist in each of the six regions throughout the state and are open to fishing year round. Please check the Pennsylvania Fishing Summary Regulations for a complete list of streams and lakes open to year round trout fishing.
Our Favorite Year Round Trout Fishing Waters

Many think that once trout season closes for the year, you have to wait it out until opening day. Not the case, however. Instead of counting the days until the opening day of trout fishing season in Pennsylvania, check out these waters that are open to year round trout fishing.
