The world’s largest outdoor, the Great American Outdoors Show, has arrived again. This annual NRA sponsored event held at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg brings together anglers, outdoors people and fun enthusiasts from young to old. For this year, the Great American Outdoor Show 2020 begins on February 1st.

The NRA Great American Outdoor Show fills the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex for nine days each year. The yearly event has grown every year with more diverse exhibits and even more events. As host, Harrisburg draws thousands upon thousands of people who celebrate fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. Patrons travel not only from cities and towns across Pennsylvania to attend, but from across the country and world to view new, innovative products, listen to daily seminars, participating in events, and take part in fun, family activities.

Those that have visited the Great American Outdoor Show in recent years know well that each day is crowded and full of many consecutive events. Because of this, how do you plan a single day at the show and see everything? Simple answer. It is impossible. However, if you are an angler, here are five must-visit exhibits worth checking out while there with friends and family.

Fishing Exhibits Worth Visiting during a Day at the Show

With so many exhibits to try to see in one day, how do you make the most of your time there? It is hard. It takes time beforehand to explore the show exhibits and events schedule and decide which you must-see and which ones it would be nice to see. Our five must see fishing exhibits at the Great American Outdoor Show follow.

1. Kid’s Trout Pond – By far one of the most crowded fishing exhibits on the show is the kid’s trout pond. This small, man-made pond is loaded with all sorts of trout ready to be caught. Each year this experience delights thousands of kids hoping to land a trout. For a few dollars, each kid gets a few minutes to try and catch as many trout as they can. It’s well worth the wait in line!
2. Kid’s Casting Competition – Kids of all ages have a chance to compete against one another. In its 7th year at the show, the PA Bass Federation hosted fishing event that lets each participant showcase their casting ability. Pitch, flip and cast your way into the winner’s bracket while each participant walks away with a fishing rod.
3. Hawg Tank – The hawg tank features live bass in a huge trailer aquarium. This feature exhibit in the fishing hall host countless seminars and demonstrations from pro anglers and local fishing guides. Stop by to pick up a few new fishing tips for bass fishing or to simply see some of many bass react to different fishing lure presentations.
4. Dock Dogs – Back by popular demand, the dock dogs have shows and competitions throughout the first 5 days of the show. A variety of skills will be on display including big air, extreme vertical, speed retrieve, and dueling dogs all taking place in the large arena.
5. Outfitter Halls – The Great American Outdoor Show host some of the best fishing outfitters in the state and across the country. The large outfitter hall and the fishing halls both provide opportunities to connect with fishing guides to plan a local trip or a trip of a lifetime. Many offer special deals only available if you book at the show. Take advantage and book your 2020 fishing trip at some point during your day.
